Thomas Foods International turned its early export experience from South Australia into supplying meat, seafood and fresh produce to more than 85 countries by 2024.

The company’s global market was supported by a network of overseas offices  as well as Australian production bases and offices paired with a growing delivery network and large warehouse footprint. Under T&R (Thomas and Rowe), its previous name and structure until 2013, the Thomas family in 2009, joined forces with another family-owned company Food Comm to create what became Thomas Foods International USA, one of the first businesses to supply high-quality chilled grass-fed beef to a national retailer in the United States of America. The USA business continued to grow and expand, distributing more than 100 million pounds of quality meat products year round. 

In 2017, Thomas Foods International expanded its network of experienced sales staff into China, starting sales and distribution operations in Shanghai.  The next year, Thomas Foods made its entry into Europe in partnership with another family company, Luiten Food, importing game and poultry since 1938. The Luiten Food _ Thomas Foods Europe partnership added Australian beef and lamb to Luiten’s range including game, poultry, exotic game, Ibérico pork, vegetable and vegan products, sold to wholesalers, cruise lines, supermarkets, butchers and poulterers in over 35 countries.

Also in 2018, Thomas Foods International Japan was launched, servicing the whole of North Asia with direct sales and distribution s from Tokyo. Japan.  Supporting expansion in North America, Thomas Foods International Canada, with offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, from 2021 built a reputation as a reliable distributor of protein across the Canadian territories and a partner with some of the country’s most well-respected retailers and food service distributors. Thomas Foods International also has a United Kingdom office in the heart of London.

Thomas Foods International also built world demand for its co products from the quality livestock it processes. They met the growing demand for high quality skins and hides in markets such as China, Turkey, Belgium and Russia, and protein-rich meat and bone meals used for stock food, pet food and aqua feed purposes. Thomas Foods International skins and hides division also was European Union-accredited, so it could supply to garment manufacturers across Europe. Up to 95% of its drum-salted rawskins were exported to markets that demanded uncompromising quality.

Thomas Foods International’s rendering division also saw big growth locally and internationally. Its range of meat and bone meals included ovine meal and caprine meal, as well as a mixed ovine and bovine meal, providing high-value protein meals. Its quality blood meal were also highly sought a for stock food, pet food and aqua feed. Thomas Foods International tallow products were in high demand in Australia and overseas for products including cosmetics, food, explosives and as a renewable fuel in biodiesel production.
